As of 1st January 2021, Robel Holding GmbH (Robel) has acquired a share of 25.1 percent in Schweerbau International GmbH & Co. KG (SBI), based in Stadthagen, Germany. The company from Lower Saxony that specialises in the development of rail treatment technologies has conferred to Robel the exclusive rights for marketing all SBI technologies and associated products. SBI is headed up by Managing Directors Frank Mevert, Walter Bredemeyer and Wolfgang R. Fally.
Robel Holding Managing Director Wolfgang R. Fally sees huge potential for track construction in a merger of specialist suppliers: “Our aim is to raise the profile of rail treatment at an international level. To achieve this, each partner will contribute what they are best at: SBI is the technology expert in treatment of rail surfaces, Robel supplies the experience as a machine manufacturer as well as a worldwide sales and service network. Together, we will open up new business areas and applications for our customers.”
The first product of the new cooperation is a two-part rail treatment vehicle system (ROMILL), which will be deployed in Japan from the second half of 2021.

In close cooperation with track construction and maintenance providers, SBI develops applications and technologies for milling, rotational planing and grinding of rail surfaces. The company is jointly owned by Schweerbau GmbH & Co. KG, Mevert Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG, Walter Bredemeyer and, since January 2021, Robel Holding GmbH.
